The 8th Ravno Selo Film Festival, June 26–29, 2025: Film Stories Still Echo Through the Village
The Ravno Selo Film Festival, an international festival dedicated to first and second films, will be held this year from June 26 to 29.
Traditionally oriented toward a younger audience, the festival offers a highly engaging and content-rich program.
In addition, it is slowly but surely achieving one of its initial goals — the creation of a new Cultural Center on the site of the one that was lost to a fire nine years ago.
June 26 is a big day for us. We are finally opening the new Cultural Center and launching the 8th international Ravno Selo Film Festival. This year’s lineup includes films by authors from Serbia, North Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, France, the United Kingdom, Cuba, Italy, and many other countries. The festival has firmly secured its place on the world’s cinematic map. It may not be the biggest or most important festival, but when it comes to young filmmakers, it is very significant – emphasizes Lazar Ristovski, founder and director of the Ravno Selo Film Festival.

Founder’s Story

Lazar Ristovski
/Founder and Festival Director/
After a long wait and a lot of hard work, I've finally managed to achieve my dream – the construction of a new Cultural Center in my beloved Ravno Selo. Thanks to the support we received from the President of the Provincial Government of Vojvodina, Mr. Igor Mirović, our new Cultural Center is now a reality.
After eight years since the terrible fire that destroyed the previous cultural center, I'm proud to announce that this year, 2024, our village's new cultural heart will be officially opened.
The new Cultural Center won't just host the seventh Ravno Selo Film Festival; it'll also provide better conditions for all future cultural activities, Ristovski explains. He adds that RSFF has become known for its original programs, great camaraderie, and the positive energy generated by both the filmmakers and the thousands of viewers who attend the screenings.
Now, with all the resources at our disposal, we'll be able to offer a more extensive and higher-quality program that will satisfy all lovers of film, music, theater, and art in general. This is a great victory for our village and for all of us who believed in the power of culture to enrich our lives and community.
About the Ravno Selo Film Festival
Ravno Selo is a typical Bačka village. It's the furthest from the municipal center of Vrbas, but it also offers the best connection to the western parts of Bačka and the Republic of Croatia. It lies between Kulpin and Zmajevo, or as Samu Borovsky, the author of the Bačka county monograph, put it: "Stare Šove (as the village was called until 1946) lies in the Novi Sad district between Kulpin and Stari Ker (Zmajevo)." The legend of this village's origin states that it was founded in the 15th century, with the first written records dating back to the late 15th century, specifically between 1484 and 1502. One of the owners of this area was the Hungarian nobleman Egeriš Idečkij, after whom the Jegrička River, which flows through the village, was named.
