The 9th Ravno Selo Film Festival, June 25–28, 2025: Film Stories Echo Through the Village
The Ravno Selo Film Festival, an international festival dedicated to first and second feature films, will be held this year from June 25 to June 28.
Traditionally oriented toward a younger audience, the festival offers a highly engaging and content-rich program.
In addition, it is slowly but surely achieving one of its initial goals — the creation of a new Cultural Center on the site of the one that was lost to a fire nine years ago.
“As we approach this year’s festival, I am excited about everything that awaits us, and, to be honest, I have already started thinking about the tenth, jubilee edition of the festival. I hope this does not sound immodest, but my sense of satisfaction is truly immense as we draw closer to this important milestone. We are promoters of new cinematic voices and fresh film ideas. We are a small community and a small festival, yet one that grows alongside the filmmakers who come here to present their work and later become stars on the world’s cinematic stage. You will be welcomed by gracious hosts, ready to open the doors of their homes to you. And beyond a celebration of film, we offer a feast for the other senses as well: music, traditional local cuisine, and valuable awards for the winners”, emphasizes Lazar Ristovski, founder of the festival.

Founder’s Story

Lazar Ristovski
/Founder and Festival Director/
After a long wait and a great deal of hard work, I have finally succeeded in fulfilling my dream – building a new Cultural Center in my beloved Ravno Selo.
Nine years after the devastating fire that destroyed the previous Cultural Center, I am proud to announce that in 2026, the new cultural heart of our village will be officially opened.
The new Cultural Center will not only serve as the venue for the 9th edition of the Ravno Selo Film Festival, but will also provide improved conditions for a wide range of cultural activities in the years to come,” explains Ristovski. He adds that RSFF has become known for its original programs, warm atmosphere, and positive energy created both by the filmmakers and by the audiences who return year after year in ever-growing numbers to attend the festival screenings.
Now, with all the resources at our disposal, we will be able to offer a broader and higher-quality program that will appeal to all lovers of film, music, theatre, and the arts in general. This is a great victory for our village and for all of us who believe in the power of culture to enrich our lives and strengthen our community.
About the Ravno Selo Film Festival
Ravno Selo is a typical Bačka village. It's the furthest from the municipal center of Vrbas, but it also offers the best connection to the western parts of Bačka and the Republic of Croatia. It lies between Kulpin and Zmajevo, or as Samu Borovsky, the author of the Bačka county monograph, put it: "Stare Šove (as the village was called until 1946) lies in the Novi Sad district between Kulpin and Stari Ker (Zmajevo)." The legend of this village's origin states that it was founded in the 15th century, with the first written records dating back to the late 15th century, specifically between 1484 and 1502. One of the owners of this area was the Hungarian nobleman Egeriš Idečkij, after whom the Jegrička River, which flows through the village, was named.
